• The photograph captures a solitary man sitting on the edge of the water, his attention focused on his phone. The scene is rendered in black and white, which emphasizes the stark contrast between the man's isolation and the expansive, gently rippling water around him. There is an air of quiet introspection and melancholy that permeates the image, as the man appears to be both physically and mentally distant from the world around him. Despite the phone in his hand, the man seems disconnected from others, lost in his own thoughts as he sits alone on the waterfront.
• Drishti by Kirsten Berg

Inspired by a Sanskrit philosophical phrase, “Drishti, Srishti”, meaning: “As is your vision, so is your universe” or, “How you behold, is what you unfold”. Drishti is a sculptural expression, and reflective symbol, of finding ourselves at a critical point in history, in which we are called upon to focus and engage our collective gaze into a more elevated vision, as co-creators and collaborators of our individual and shared realities.

Shimmering in mirrored steel, Drishti’s elegantly arcing angles sweep our gaze upward. Here, our individual reflections in each ‘facet’ of the multitude of lens-like convex mirror are framed with everyone else’ into a mosaic portrait of shared reflection, pointing us to the stars, literally and symbolically
• In this striking black and white photograph by Duncan Rawlinson, a solitary man stands atop a train, dwarfed by the colossal presence of a massive grain silo. The image captures a moment of timelessness in the world of farming and food, with the imposing structure serving as a testament to the grand scale of the agricultural industry. The stark contrast between the man's small stature and the monumental silo highlights the insignificance of an individual within the vast systems of nature and food production. Set against the backdrop of the rural American heartland, this photograph evokes a sense of awe and pays homage to the heritage of farming that has shaped the countryside for generations. The image speaks to the enduring human spirit and perseverance in the face of the seemingly insurmountable challenges presented by the immense forces of nature and industry.
• INCENTER by Kate Greenberg

Home is now a place of refuge and a space isolated from community. Yet from home, we’ve shared this time apart together. INCENTER unearths this global connection: inside the shape of a house, our earth is found and viewed from within.

If it could be occupied, the center of our earth would be the only point in the universe where all humans would be in focus and equidistant from one another simultaneously.

INCENTER immerses its explorers within a manifestation of this fantastical innerview, and interactively displays global data to communicate a vantage of global interconnectivity and individual impact with respect to panoptic crises. This unique perspective hopes to remind us each that we are not alone, and that Earth is the home we share.
• Mariposita by: Chris Carnabuci from: Cold Spring, NY year: 2019 Mariposita, meaning “little butterfly”, represents rebirth – of coming out of a shell, escaping confinement, and breaking through to a more meaningful and enlightening existence or experience. The act of emerging, however, is usually not so simple, and the complexity experienced both within the individual viewer and expressed externally as a communal experience, will become the atmosphere surrounding this piece. A rebirth requires power, curiosity, determination, and support, all characteristics that lead to revival and restoration. Mariposita is meant to inspire awakenings and reawakenings, growth and regrowth, beginnings and ends. • Love's Hug
by: Anna Mok
from: Palo Alto & San Francisco, CA
year: 2019

Love’s Hug rises from the desert as a protected space where one can be extrospective and introspective. It will invoke individual and collective reflections and thoughtful dialogue of the love, happiness and joy that humans create for ourselves and each other.

Love’s Hug invites us to take a rest from the chaos, share an embrace, cuddle with others and be engulfed by human love and warmth in this safe place where we can (re)connect with our own hearts and those of others around us. These connections allow us to remember the limitless powers of the human heart and is a catalyst for transformations.
• FIRE by Zoe Fry and The Introverts Collective

The FIRE Installation appears as a grove of fire ravaged Manzanita trees in stark contrast to the white canvas of the Black Rock Desert. Each tree stands as a unique sculpture, an individual entity, made more beautiful by its initial struggle for sun, the resistance to gravity, and ultimately the sculpting by blazing wildfire heat.

The installation poses questions regarding humanities ongoing relationship to the element of fire. Is FIRE friend or foe; teacher, healer, provider or malevolent force? Accompanying the grove an interactive altar provides a space for 2D art and written word responses to the questions.

Participants may enter Disturb My Slumber, a tribute to the mythical Cave of Wonders, day and night. They will be invited to reflect on their individual time of darkness during the pandemic, and share it verbally or in writing inside the walls of the internal space. What terrified them? What did they confront? What did they learn? What treasures may have been unburied by this nightmare? In this way they will be invited to HONOR their experience, SHARE it with the collective and upon the piece’s burn ritual, ALCHEMIZE it.

year: 2019

This monumental art structure is an eight-story wooden globe gently cradled by a giant pair of hands. Within, the space is lit by a sacred light: the InnerSun. A series of wheelchair accessible ramps wind up the curved walls to an equatorial terrace, where participants will gather inside the sphere.

The InnerSun Project: A global art collaboration. Each massive hand on the structure is comprised of individual human-sized hands with messages from across the world written on them — our collective answer to “what’s your InnerSun?” In this way, thousands of people from anywhere in the world can take part in the artwork itself.

Metamorphosis is our projection on us self. We provide a unique experience at night with the Eye of Metamorphosis: A body-projection art installation creating an individual metamorphosis to be projected on the moving or dancing body. Butterflies, which morph into watchful eyes reminding us that wishful ideals come with the cost of exposition; or flowers, which burn away from the inside, or fire that freezes to ice. A mirror at the bottom of the eye lets participants experience their own metamorphosis.
by: Gwen Darling with Gwen and Josh Art
from: Santa Cruz, CA & Reno, NV
year: 2019

“Puzzles and Prayers” is a large scale interactive mixed media sculpture serving as a shaded gathering space for participants to explore, discover, to pray and play. Prayer wheels are typically seen as individual wheels aligned in long rows, but the “Puzzles and Prayers” wheel components will be arranged in a grid. Each ceramic wheel will be a puzzle piece. When spun into alignment with the rest, the wheels will compose a beautiful mural. It will give the participant a unique opportunity to interact with this spiritual tradition as well as discovering the hidden image of the contemporary mural.

Many hands, one light, a better world.
by: Chris Carnabuci
from: Cold Spring, NY
year: 2019

Mariposita, meaning “little butterfly”, represents rebirth – of coming out of a shell, escaping confinement, and breaking through to a more meaningful and enlightening existence or experience.
• George is an amazing photographer. He has been shooting Burning Man for ages. In this photograph George is showing me his system for organizing Burning Man information while he is on playa. I asked him to show me when I told he where we we're camped and he quickly noted it. So simple and effective. Someone tells you something, and you just jot it down on an individual card. Then you can reshuffle later and discard as needed etc. I will steal this idea. Thanks George! My Burning Man 2018 Photos:
• The Tomb of Nahtaivel by: Eric Coolidge and Eric Whitney from: Brooklyn, NY year: 2017

Ancient stories tell of the Leviathan, believed to be a great beast, a demon or one of the Four Princes of Hell. We believe that this branch of lore represents the individual struggle between right and wrong, physically manifested in the real world. Sometimes facing personal problems can feel like you’re battling a great beast. This temple is about the external and internal forces that bring people together to create the world in which we all participate whether it be good or evil. The very definition of ritual implies history and repetition. The visual telling of history is an ancient practice older than written lore. We want to encourage people to share their own histories and share their own battles within this space. URL: http://www.tombofnahtaivel.com Contact: tombofnahtaivel@gmail.com

 • In this aerial photograph, a trio of small, isolated islands adorns the landscape within Ontario's Thousand Islands region in Canada. The calm waters serve as a glass-like canvas, reflecting the gentle pastel hues of the sky and the majestic clouds above. The mirrored surface provides a sense of tranquility, enveloping the viewer in the serene atmosphere of this picturesque setting.

The three islands stand as a secluded oasis amid the archipelago's vast beauty. Covered in lush trees, these tiny isles offer an idyllic scene, showcasing nature's artwork at its finest. As a haven for birds, the islands also provide a sanctuary for loitering avian species, adding to the pristine environment that defines this idyllic corner of the world.

Duncan Rawlinson's aerial capture of the scene presents a unique vantage point, highlighting the untouched nature of the island cluster. The aerial panorama not only brings attention to the individual character of each island but also underscores the remote and peaceful nature of the Thousand Islands region.

The combination of sky, water, and stone creates a harmonious composition, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the tranquility and calm respite that this secluded corner of Ontario has to offer. With its pastel color palette and gentle atmosphere, the Tranquil Trio image stands as a testament to the hidden beauty of the Canadian landscape, while celebrating the serene sky and the picturesque setting of Ontario's jewels.
• The Man’s Army Burn by: Michael Ciulla & The Rave Knights (Alexandra Friedman, Nick Harris, John Jones) with support from Sin Cohen, Steven Platt, Lizzy Layne, Ryan Geist Bozajian & Ciulla Associates from: Los Angeles, CA year: 2019 The Man’s Army is 100 androgynous life-sized human figures standing in a 10×10 grid. Each figure has skin of white wax and a unique 3D printed face created by a point-cloud scan of real people. At night an internal LED creates a glow emanating from within. The body and face create a blank canvas for expression. Throughout the week the figures are customized, culminating in a transformative burn. The piece is a visual metaphor contemplating conformity through shared non-conformity. People, from a distance may appear homogeneous but once among them you see their individuality. Through shared experience burners are altered and stretched by the thoughts and intentions of one another and then transformed through an expression of impermanence. • Temple of Promise from: San Francisco Bay Area, CA year: 2015

A Temple’s purpose is to provide a safe space where the diverse and essential needs of the soul can take root and grow or surrender and find solace. This year, the Temple of Promise welcomes participants through an archway soaring 97 feet overhead. Once inside, the structure curves in on itself, tapering in width and height down to just 7 feet tall. Along the way, alcoves formed by the supporting arches, as well as wooden sculptures reminiscent of stones in a stream, create altars and semi-private spaces for individuals and smaller gatherings. The lines of the curved wooden walls draw the eye inward and create a canvas for written messages and mementos. As the path continues to curve, it opens into the contemplative altar and the heart of the Temple: a grove of three sculpted trees. The branches are initially bare. Participants will write messages on long strips of cloth and attach them to the trees, creating the gentle shade of Weeping Willows, increasing as the week progresses.

The Man’s Army is 100 androgynous life-sized human figures standing in a 10×10 grid. Through shared experience burners are altered and stretched by the thoughts and intentions of one another and then transformed through an expression of impermanence.
by: Nicki Adani
from: Mill Valley, CA
year: 2019

Nicki Adani’s “Taking Flight” emboldens visitors to be who they truly are, inspiring them to leave behind what is holding them back. A 10-foot tall feminine bird-like figure, welded from raw steel rods and tubes, her wings spread wide, takes flight from her perch upon a 10-foot tall spoked wheel, representing the circle of life. Viewers interact by making colorful ropes and weaving them into the wheel as a metaphor of releasing one’s past. Experiences already lived through can’t be erased, but they can speak their truths, and be let go. In the process, individuals can connect to their inner strength allowing them to spread their wings to fly free.
• This intriguing photograph, taken by Duncan Rawlinson, captures a scene of faith in the rural landscape of Colorado. The focus of the image is a white trailer with large red letters proudly displaying the message "Jesus Saves". Parked alongside other vehicles and a home, the trailer stands as an unexpected reminder of faith and religiosity in this quiet setting. The bold statement sparks curiosity and raises questions about the motivation behind such a public proclamation. It encourages the viewer to ponder the need some individuals may feel to share their beliefs with others and the possible benefits they derive from doing so. This thought-provoking image offers a glimpse into the complexities of faith, spirituality, and human nature.

The Man’s Army is 100 androgynous life-sized human figures standing in a 10×10 grid.
