• In this photograph, dead trees stand solemnly amidst a vast field of yellow, dry grass. The scene evokes a sense of desolation and decay, yet there is an undeniable beauty in the contrast between the lifeless trees and the sun-drenched landscape. The golden hues of the grass create a serene and tranquil atmosphere, while the stark, skeletal branches of the trees serve as a poignant reminder of the harsh reality of drought and arid conditions. As one gazes upon this image, it is impossible not to feel a deep sense of connection to the resilience of nature and its ability to withstand the passage of time. This powerful photograph is a testament to the haunting beauty that can be found even in the most desolate corners of the world.
• Forest of Dreams by Laura Kimpton and crew

The Forest of Dreams is formed of 40 trees, 10ft tall, all made of steel. The trees are to be arranged on a square grid, 10 trees by 10 trees, placed in concentrically smaller grids and culminating in an open area at the center. The forest will be bathed in dancing LED lights of multitude of colors shining through the shaped cutouts in the trees. Citizens of Black Rock Desert will be able to see the forest for miles. My hope is the forest will be placed in deep playa past the temple so it will be dark enough for the forest to shine. Our hope is for participants will interact with the forest in the most magical way. As one will enter the forest, the will find a world of colorful beauty where one can let go, dance, be silly, discover a new more playful self. As an installation artist my goal is to create art that is experiential. With the Forest, participants not only physically walk through and explore the piece, they get lost in the space and become one with the forest.
• Listen by: Aaron Fowler & Erin Desmond from: Los Angeles, CA year: 2018

“Listen” is a large scale human heart made from used speakers on the exterior and lined with mirror mosaic on the interior. Participants are invited to enter the reflecting inner heart space where they will find stethoscopes hanging from the ceiling that are connected to the speakers on the exterior. When activated from within, the sculpture will emit deep, layered beating sounds, as participantes stop to listen to their hearts and the hearts of others. Contact: speakersoftheheart@gmail.com
