• Temple of Promise from: San Francisco Bay Area, CA year: 2015

A Temple’s purpose is to provide a safe space where the diverse and essential needs of the soul can take root and grow or surrender and find solace. This year, the Temple of Promise welcomes participants through an archway soaring 97 feet overhead. Once inside, the structure curves in on itself, tapering in width and height down to just 7 feet tall. Along the way, alcoves formed by the supporting arches, as well as wooden sculptures reminiscent of stones in a stream, create altars and semi-private spaces for individuals and smaller gatherings. The lines of the curved wooden walls draw the eye inward and create a canvas for written messages and mementos. As the path continues to curve, it opens into the contemplative altar and the heart of the Temple: a grove of three sculpted trees. The branches are initially bare. Participants will write messages on long strips of cloth and attach them to the trees, creating the gentle shade of Weeping Willows, increasing as the week progresses. • Fractal Droid by Jenna Finney, Aaron Sierra, and the Fractal Droid Collective

The Fractal Droid sculpture will be a 12′ X 15′ tall biomechanical head extruding from the earth, cracked open like an egg with a curved ultra-wide face screen displaying HD content by our Visual Artists. The VR aesthetic draws our viewers in to explore the textures and programmed light designs within the sculpture.

The exterior aesthetic is created out of laser cut birch and CNC cut plywood painted with high gloss finishes and covered in programmed LED strips, spot lights, and ambient speakers, the sculpture is a high functioning playscape of social connection experiences integrating technology and human energy.

The fractal droid is interactive sculpture that is a bridge way between the integration of man and digital art technology.
• Le Attrata from: Oakland, CA year: 2016

After the Events of 2175, the perfect storm of industrial pollution, population explosion and the destruction of biodiversity raged. It was only a renewal of the vows between science and nature that saved us. The amount of horrendous wastes we had piled up over a millenia- much of it toxic and flammable- was daunting. The Fuocco Falene are a crux of biomech, artistry and divine intervention. Fire moths- drawn to the most noxious of wastes, able to consume the wastes and leave a benign byproduct. Their consumption of fuels is spectacular, so much so that Falena became sought after for their beauty. It has become fashionable to convert outdated civic fixtures, like fountains, to be attractions to the Fuocco Falena. Le Attrata is a prime example of such an installation, its jagged spires providing perches for the Falena, the curved benches housing seating for people, and the Falena chrysalises lighting the way throughout the night. • The InnerSun Project
by: The InnerSun Crew
from: The World
year: 2019

This monumental art structure is an eight-story wooden globe gently cradled by a giant pair of hands. Within, the space is lit by a sacred light: the InnerSun. A series of wheelchair accessible ramps wind up the curved walls to an equatorial terrace, where participants will gather inside the sphere.

The InnerSun Project: A global art collaboration. Each massive hand on the structure is comprised of individual human-sized hands with messages from across the world written on them — our collective answer to “what’s your InnerSun?” In this way, thousands of people from anywhere in the world can take part in the artwork itself.
Many hands, one light, a better world.

• This photo is upside down. This is how Gaudi figured out how to design La Sagrada Familia, by hanging lead weights by string to create perfect curves for the supports...Wikipedia:...Gaudí spent ten years working on studies for the design of La Sagrada Família and developing a new method of structural calculation based on a model built with cords and small sacks of lead shot. The outline of the church was traced on a wooden board (1:10 scale), which was then placed on the ceiling of a small house next to the work site. Cords were hung from the points where columns were to be placed. The sacks of pellets, weighing one ten-thousandth part of the weight the arches would to support, were hung from each catenaric arch formed by the cords. Photographs were then taken of the resulting model from various angles. When the photographs were turned upside-down, the lines of tension formed by the cords and weights revealed the lines of pressure of the compressed structure. This is one of the ways that Gaudí obtained natural forms in his work...The same expressive power of Gaudí's monumental works exists in his oddly graceful chairs and tables. Gaudí's architecture is a total integration of materials, processes and poetics. His approach to furniture design exceeded structural expression and continued with the overall architectural idea.[20]..en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoni_Gaud%c3%ad ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoni_Gaud%c3%ad )
