• Fractaled Mind by Kamp Kerfuffle

Fractaled Mind is an 11′ tall interactive sculpture of repeating shapes in a fractal pattern. The sculpture explores shape, color, light, and the language of the universe. It creates a space to climb, explore, gather, and rest. The predictable and repeating pattern of boxes is colored on each side in a gradient pattern. By night, lighting that cycles through the color spectrum augments the color and shadow on the structure creating an ever-changing form that challenges the predictability of the fractal pattern. Climbing the structure reveals an interior space to rest and gather. The space is filled with monochromatic light that contrasts the constantly changing light of the playa.

 • Project flashlight is the joy of light at grand scale. Pure, incredibly bright white beams like fingers of god in the dust, contrasts with the night sky, scale across the open playa, interplay of beams, light in motion. Military and NASA billion-candlepower searchlights, reanimated for art! Interactively controlled by smartphones, tablets and light-saber toys.

 • Kinesios by: ND Collective from: Nashville, TN year: 2018

Kinesios is an imposing steel colossus formed by two internally lit vertical steel planes set parallel to each other. Perforated with a binary code on one side and a chaotic pattern on the other side the two planes support a hanging sculpture that participants can swing by synchronizing their body movements, cooperation is the key. The internal lighting is affected by the pendulum’s movement, the higher the motion, the greater the pulsation, frequency, and synchronization of the lighting. It is a piece of contrast and conflict. Man vs. machine, order vs. chaos, a binary limitations vs. freethinking existence. By putting the human spirit in the center, mankind is the activator, only we can be the solution to our own creation. URL: https://www.ndcollective.net Contact: brad@norrisarchitecture.com

 • One of my favorite experiences this burn was controlling these 500AMP spotlights wirelessly using a tablet. You drag your finger across the tablet screen and the spotlights move accordingly. Also these folks let me put on welders glasses so I could stick my face in front of the beam and see the arc light. It was scary as hell and my face got hot very fast but damn was it incredible! Thank you! (These we're previously military spotlights that would have infrared beams so the battlefield would be illuminated to soldiers wearing infrared goggles... In that situation the beams were invisible to the enemy.)
• FIRE by Zoe Fry and The Introverts Collective

The FIRE Installation appears as a grove of fire ravaged Manzanita trees in stark contrast to the white canvas of the Black Rock Desert. Each tree stands as a unique sculpture, an individual entity, made more beautiful by its initial struggle for sun, the resistance to gravity, and ultimately the sculpting by blazing wildfire heat.

The installation poses questions regarding humanities ongoing relationship to the element of fire. Is FIRE friend or foe; teacher, healer, provider or malevolent force? Accompanying the grove an interactive altar provides a space for 2D art and written word responses to the questions.
• Dancers at Resolute Arch by: Richard Rhodes, Sculptor from: Seattle, WA year: 2018

The Resolute Arch is conceived as gathering place and high-impact landmark on the horizon. it’s intended to start a conversation, draw the viewer towards an unexpected conclusion and experience. Appearing broken and hanging inexplicably in place, the mind-altering assembly of stone challenges our perception of what we think we know, thought we understood. The sculpture is fundamentally an open symbol. The break in the form demands attention, presenting the shifting dualities of continuity and rupture, menace and security, unbidden fear and unearned trust. It is both heavy and light, impossible, yet it stands, challenging our perceptions. Timeless and transient, the stone arch stands in contrast to our disposable culture.
Cosmo
by: Roger Heitzman
from: Scotts Valley, CA
year: 2019

Rising out of a tower of hand-bent deep rust patina steel flames is a contrasting stainless steel kinetic wind sculpture. The sculpture’s center steel tube supports the 6 axes on which the hand-hammered stainless steel wind-catching cups spin via straight and bent stainless steel tubing. Precisely balanced and using stainless steel ball bearings, the piece will react to gentlest of breezes yet withstand the most intense winds. At the very top sits the sun, made of a stainless steel sphere surrounded by rusted steel flames. This piece gives the illusion of the heat generated by upward-moving flames rising to activate the sculpture. The randomness of flame heat is reflected in the randomness of the sculpture’s movement.
